Healthy Diet Tips

What you eat and how often you eat it, is just as important for your teeth and gums as it is for your general overall health. A balanced healthy diet, together with a regular oral hygiene routine, will greatly contribute to the health of your teeth and gums.

Avoid sticky sugars and starches, as the bacteria in your mouth react to these and produce acid which attacks the tooth enamel. This causes tooth decay and erosion.Lollies, toffees, chocolate, cakes, juices and soft drinks are very high in sugars and therefore are the biggest causes of tooth decay.

Chewing sugar-free gum or Xylitol gum will stimulate saliva production, your natural neutraliser of mouth acid. And rinsing with water after eating and drinking can also help.
